Waldorf Astoria Bangkok sits inside Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard, a 60-storey tower whose flowing, sculptural form takes its cue from a magnolia petal. Gensler and DI Designs handled the architecture. Hong Kong-based André Fu handled everything guests actually touch. The result is relaxed luxury, done with real restraint.
What’s It Like
The hotel occupies the Lower Lobby, levels six through 16, then jumps straight to the top: levels 55 to 57. That gap matters. It means the dining floors sit above the city rather than beside it. André Fu brought subtle Thai motifs through the lower levels, blending heritage with something more contemporary. Upstairs, AvroKO took over, designing three destination venues that lean harder into drama. Sebastien Pisano, appointed General Manager in March 2025, previously ran Conrad Bora Bora, and it shows in how unhurried the whole place feels.

Rooms
I stayed in the Astoria Suite, one of ten One-Bedroom Astoria Suites in the hotel. It measures 140 sqm, generous even by Bangkok standards. The property holds 171 rooms and suites in total, and every category benefits from that same design sensibility. Standard King and Twin Deluxe rooms run 50 sqm. King Deluxe Suites offer 75. At the very top sits the Two-Bedroom Royal Suite, a genuinely enormous 355 sqm. Every room comes with complimentary Wi-Fi and a personal concierge service, small details that add up over a longer stay.

Facilities
Level 16 does a lot of heavy lifting. It houses an outdoor, temperature-controlled swimming pool, the Waldorf Astoria Spa, and a 24-hour fitness studio, all in one spot. Complimentary group yoga runs weekly, with private sessions available for guests who want one-on-one attention. For events, the Magnolia Ballroom offers an eight-metre ceiling and space for up to 700 guests across 730 sqm. Eight further meeting rooms, ranging from 20 to 490 sqm, give the hotel real flexibility for anything from a private reception to a full conference.
Dining
Breakfast happened at The Brasserie, widely regarded as one of Bangkok’s finest breakfast rooms. My plate was simple and well judged: an egg white omelette, sourdough toast, low-fat yoghurt, and a cappuccino. Nothing heavy, nothing fussy, just precise execution before a full day out in the city.
The rest of the dining programme goes further. Front Room, on the Lower Lobby, channels a Thai spice shop, with over 200 lanterns hanging beneath an eight-metre ceiling. The menu builds around Thailand’s eight signature flavours, and dishes like the seared Hokkaido scallop with lotus stem show real ambition. Peacock Alley, the hotel’s signature lounge, keeps a Waldorf Astoria tradition alive with afternoon tea and the classic Waldorf salad.
Upstairs, things get louder. Bull & Bear, on level 55, specialises in grilled meats, complete with a recreation of Wall Street’s famous bull and bear statue. The Loft, on level 56, takes its cocktail programme from the original 1935 Waldorf Astoria Bar Book, accessed by a spiral staircase that sets the tone before you’ve even ordered. It’s ranked among Tatler’s Best 20 Bars in Thailand for 2026, and it earns that spot.

Space, in the end, is what defines this stay. At 140 square metres, the Astoria Suite gives you room to actually live in, not just sleep in. Verdict
Waldorf Astoria Bangkok earns its reputation through design discipline as much as scale. André Fu’s lower floors and AvroKO’s dining levels create two distinct moods within one hotel, and both work. The Astoria Suite delivers genuine space in a city where that’s rare, while The Loft and Bull & Bear give the property real after-dark credibility. This remains one of Bangkok’s most complete luxury stays.
