Uber has launched an Expedia hotel booking partnership, expanding beyond rides and food delivery. The company announced the feature at its sixth annual Go-Get product showcase. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, formerly Expedia’s CEO, called the tie-up a natural next step for the platform.

Booking Hotels Directly in the App

The new Uber Expedia hotel booking feature lets US users search and book from over 700,000 hotels worldwide. Users filter results by guest ratings, price, amenities, hotel class and brand. The upfront price includes taxes and fees. Users see how many Uber Credits they earn with each booking, deposited within 24 hours of check-in. Uber will add Vrbo vacation rental inventory later this year. Uber One members get at least 20% off rates at 10,000 hotels plus 10% back in Uber credits on all bookings.

Travel Mode and AI Voice Booking

Uber is also rolling out Travel Mode, curating local points of interest and restaurants for users outside their home city. Uber Eats will add curated dining recommendations with OpenTable booking built in. A new AI-powered voice booking feature lets users state their destination and preferences aloud. The assistant then presents options before confirming.

Smaller Features Round Out the Update

Uber Black and Uber Black SUV riders can now add Uber Eats orders to reserved rides, rolling out first in six US cities. A new “Shop for Me” feature lets users request items from stores not listed on the app. A redesigned single search bar now shows results for rides, food and items across the platform. uber.com
