This expansion strengthens Hong Kong’s connectivity with an emerging Belt and Road region. As Cathay Pacific expands its Latin America network via Madrid, travellers gain access to Fortaleza, Recife, Buenos Aires and Santo Domingo. This marks the first time Argentina and the Dominican Republic have joined Cathay’s codeshare map.
New Destinations Join the Network
Cathay currently flies to six Latin American cities. These include Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Lima and Santiago. The airline reaches these destinations through codeshare deals via Europe, North America and Oceania. The Cathay Group serves 33 destinations across Belt and Road countries and operates close to 600 flights weekly. Codeshare partners extend that reach even further.

Madrid Route Moves to Daily Service
Cathay Pacific will boost its Hong Kong-Madrid flights starting 25 October 2026. The airline adds three extra weekly flights. This lifts the route to a daily non-stop service. The move keeps Cathay as the only carrier flying non-stop between Hong Kong and Spain. New flights operate on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. They offer a late-night departure option from Europe.
What Cathay’s Leadership Says
Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau welcomed the update. She said the airline is “delighted to welcome these new destinations” to its codeshare network. Lau added that the daily Madrid service reinforces Cathay’s unique position. She said the changes support Cathay’s commitment to global connectivity. Passengers gain more choice and convenience through the update.

Flight Schedule Details
All times below are local. Schedules remain subject to change and regulatory approval. Flight CX297 departs Hong Kong at 1240 and lands in Madrid at 2030. It operates on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Flight CX315 leaves Hong Kong at 00:40 and arrives in Madrid at 0830. This flight runs Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
On the return leg, flight CX298 departs Madrid at 2230. It lands in Hong Kong at 1815 the next day. This service also runs Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Flight CX372 leaves Madrid at 1125 and arrives in Hong Kong at 0650 the following day. It operates Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

A Growing Route Since 2016
Cathay launched Madrid flights in 2016 with four weekly services. The route has since become a key link between Asia and Spain. It serves both business and leisure travellers. Cathay also runs a seasonal service to Barcelona each summer. That route operates four flights weekly. Together, these links strengthen Cathay’s Spanish network.
