Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit sits right in the heart of Bangkok’s business district, connected by skybridge to both BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit stations. It holds a genuine distinction too: this was Thailand’s first Luxury Collection hotel. That heritage still shapes everything about the place, from its jazz-soaked lounge to its very Thai sense of hospitality.
What’s It Like
The hotel greets guests with its Tree of Life sculpture, a symbol of prosperity that sets the tone for what follows. Inside, polished teakwood, handcrafted silks, and rare imported marble carry that Thai artistry through every corridor. It’s steeped in cultural authenticity, yet the LED-equipped ballroom reminds you this is still very much a modern business hotel. Outside, tropical gardens and water features do their best to make you forget you’re minutes from the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

Rooms
I stayed in the Rama Suite, one of the property’s signature accommodations. The suite itself measures 77 square metres. Step outside, though, and the real luxury shows up: an outdoor sitting area and private Jacuzzi spanning a further 164 square metres. Few city hotels in Bangkok offer that kind of private outdoor space.
Even the standard rooms don’t shortchange guests. At 45 sqm, they’re among the most spacious in Bangkok, each with a walk-in closet and an elegant marble bathroom. Every room includes a personal butler service, a wall-mounted LCD TV that rotates 180 degrees, and up to 20 Mbps of high-speed internet. Across the property, there are 420 rooms and suites in total, including 42 Grande Suites, three Specialty Suites, and three Thai-themed Suites overlooking Lake Ratchada.
Facilities
The Grande Spa offers an extensive menu of signature treatments, paired with a fitness centre that includes its own Jacuzzis and saunas. The hotel’s free-form swimming pool sits inside a lush garden, complete with a poolside restaurant and bar, a genuine escape from the city just beyond the gates. For business travellers, the Business Center has picked up numerous awards for its technology, and meeting rooms are available for up to 15 people. Guests can also unwind at The Library, a quiet spot for reading or an informal meeting over a drink.
Twice a week, the hotel runs its Destination Discovery programmes too. The Art of Lotus Folding, held at The Sala on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, teaches guests the meditative Thai tradition of folding lotus petals. Meanwhile, Sweet Sawasdee brings complimentary Thai royal desserts to The Living Room each afternoon, recipes with over 400 years of history, first perfected in the Ayutthaya Kingdom’s royal courts.
Rossini’s at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit
Dining
Breakfast happens at Rossini’s (for Club and Suite categories; for other room types, breakfast takes place at the cafe downstairs), the hotel’s award-winning Italian restaurant, set inside what feels like a Tuscan villa. My plate was simple but well executed: oatmeal porridge topped with walnuts and almonds, two eggs fried over hard, fresh-cut fruit, and a cappuccino. Nothing showy here, just proper technique applied consistently.
Beyond Rossini’s, the dining programme runs deep. Basil serves some of the city’s finest authentic Thai cuisine, while the Orchid Café offers one of Bangkok’s best international buffets. The Sala serves alfresco Asian and Western fare by day and barbecue under the stars at night. And then there’s The Living Room, Bangkok’s premier jazz venue, hosting international musicians nightly and a Sunday Jazzy Brunch that’s become something of an institution in itself.
The suite came with more than square footage. Cocktails and canapés were served in the living room each evening, a welcome way to unwind after a day out in the city’s heat. Airport transfers, too, were included, arriving via a Mercedes-Benz, a detail that matters more than it sounds after a long-haul flight into Suvarnabhumi.

Verdict
Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit earns its Luxury Collection status through genuine depth, not just heritage. The Rama Suite’s outdoor Jacuzzi terrace alone sets it apart from most Bangkok luxury suites, while The Living Room’s nightly jazz and the Sweet Sawasdee ritual give the property a real sense of place. Add in thoughtful extras like the airport transfer, and this remains one of Bangkok’s most complete five-star stays.

Business travellers who want a skybridge connection to the BTS and MRT, genuine space, and a taste of Thai heritage without leaving the hotel.
