Air India and Azerbaijan Airlines Sign Codeshare for Delhi-Baku Flights

Air India has signed a new codeshare partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines. The agreement improves connectivity across both carriers’ networks between India and Azerbaijan. Air India announced the deal in a release issued on Monday.

Under the Air India-Azerbaijan Airlines codeshare, Air India applies its ‘AI’ code to Azerbaijan Airlines’ daily flights between Delhi and Baku and Mumbai and Baku. Customers can book an Air India ticket with an Air India flight number on a service operated by Azerbaijan Airlines. This allows passengers to travel on a single itinerary combining flights from both airlines.

Air India currently holds 26 codeshare partnerships and more than 120 interline agreements worldwide. The airline has expanded this network steadily through 2026, recently signing a similar codeshare with Riyadh Air for India-Saudi travel. The Baku agreement adds another Central Asian gateway to Air India’s partner network, giving Delhi and Mumbai travellers more convenient access without relying solely on Air India’s own metal.

The codeshare reflects Air India’s broader push to widen its reach through partnerships rather than new aircraft alone. For business travellers, the deal simplifies booking and ticketing between India and Azerbaijan by removing the need for separate reservations across two carriers.
