Marriott has signed a landmark deal with Misr Italia Properties to develop more than 1,500 keys across Egypt. The agreement covers nine properties in the country’s top coastal and urban destinations, as Egypt pushes to grow its tourism sector.

The signing ceremony took place at government headquarters in New Alamein City. Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended alongside senior tourism officials. Developer People & Places joins the deal as a third partner.

What’s Being Built

The nine properties will carry the Ritz-Carlton, The Luxury Collection, and Autograph Collection brands. The projects include beach resorts, urban hotels, and branded residences across Egypt’s most sought-after locations. A planned Ritz-Carlton hotel at Ras El Hekma North Coast will add 268 branded residences.

At Solare Ras El Hekma, developers will build a separate 180-room Autograph Collection hotel with 250 branded residences. The full portfolio represents an investment exceeding EGP 56.7 billion and will create roughly 6,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Why Egypt, Why Now

Shady Hassan, Marriott’s Vice President of Development for North Africa, called Egypt a strategic growth market. He cited strong tourism fundamentals and expanding infrastructure as key drivers behind the decision.

The developments aim to draw approximately 373,000 tourists annually once complete. Misr Italia and People & Places now hold more than 1,800 hotel rooms and branded residences in their combined portfolio. The deal marks one of Marriott’s largest single commitments to the Egyptian market to date.

Egypt has spent years building its case as a top-tier travel destination. This deal suggests global hospitality brands are finally betting big on that pitch.
