CGH Earth is expanding beyond Southern India with its entry into the Eastern Himalayas. The group’s expansion begins with The Singell Tea Estate in Kurseong, West Bengal. CGH Earth also plans another property in Kalimpong. The move marks a new geographical chapter for the hospitality group after more than four decades of developing place-led experiences in Southern India.

A Living Tea Estate Experience
The Singell Tea Estate sits within a historic tea estate in Kurseong. The estate dates back to 1871 and centres its guest experience around tea, mountain life and local heritage. Guests can explore plantation trails, visit the tea factory and take part in guided tastings. The property also offers village walks, riverside picnics and storytelling sessions that connect travellers with the surrounding landscape.
CGH Earth’s approach focuses on nature, culture and local communities. The Singell Tea Estate extends this philosophy into the Eastern Himalayas. Guests can explore the region’s biodiversity and birdlife while discovering its tea-growing traditions. Rufous-necked hornbills, broadbills, warblers and cuckoos are among the bird species found across the area.
